PoEWhisperNotifier is a free and open-source tool that runs in the background to notify you of whispers you get in PoE (optionally) while your game is minimized. You can currently be notified through Windows tray notifications, playing a sound, sending an email, or notifying your phone through PushBullet. The program will also record a history of all missed whispers in case you can't immediately get back to PoE.

The program is particularly useful if you, like me, disable sounds while PoE is minimized so you can listen to music or watch a show, or just want to step away from the computer for a few minutes without missing a sale.

Please note that this program never actually interacts with the client and therefore will not get you banned for using it.

Any idea why I'm getting sound notifications even while actively playing?

The "Notify Only When Minimized" option is checked.

Sorry, I didn't see your message, didn't think anyone used this thread. :P The best way to get in contact with me is to PM me here or on Reddit (/u/Kapps) or create an issue on https://github.com/Kapps/PoEWhisperNotifier/issues.

But the way it determines if you're actively playing is if there's a process containing PathOfExile being active. If you somehow renamed the process title (I don't think just renaming the exe is enough, but it could be), or if something is blocking the whisper notifier from looking at what the active process is, it would think you're minimized. This is a hard one to say as it's something related to your setup, but I would try to make sure a particularly aggressive anti-virus isn't blocking the whisper notifier from looking at your active window, or that your PoE exe isn't modified in some way (possibly renamed, but probably wouldn't matter).

The author has already provided his comment regarding this question both within the original post in this thread and also on the projects github page. Furthermore there was this post on reddit a while back.

Though if you do not find the above reassuring enough (to be fair, there is no way for us to verify the validity of either of those sources) you may always contact GGG support yourself via the guidelines provided here.
